Manage your lab with a mouse click
VeraLab is a computer lab management system, which addresses day-to-day activities in a computer lab at university, college, school, training center, or library. These include user sign-in and waitlisting, access control, surveillance, maintenance, supervision, employee attendance tracking, reporting, software metering, and license management. Transactional data is collected and analyzed to support operational and planning decisions. Student Portal page displays lab usage in real time and lab open hours.
VeraLab supports both counter sign on and self-service computer lab environments where each user has a LDAP (Active Directory) account and is free to log in to any workstation. Visit our Downloads page to get a free 30-day trial.A computer facility equipped with VeraLab will enjoy the following:
- Secure lab environment
- Increased availability of workstations
- Efficient lab occupancy management
- Better resource planning
- Lower software expenses through software metering
- Higher degree of control
- Streamlined business processes
- Better reporting capabilities
- Better lab scheduling
- Immunity from accusations of negligence

Secure lab environment
Users are discouraged from participating in unlawful activities. User sign-in and computer locking prevents unauthorized access. Registration logs help identify abusers. Alert lists inform computer lab personnel of known abusers trying to sign in. A list of applications run by a user and a screenshot taken from the user's display can be used as evidence.
-
Increased availability of workstations
Hardware and software problems can be tracked and collaborated upon to ensure prompt resolution. Out-of-order workstations can be marked unavailable to prevent user sign-in. Historical data will help procure the right quantity and selection of spare parts to ensure low downtime.
-
Efficient lab occupancy management
Fewer workstations are needed to process higher user traffic. Lab assistants can view room occupancy in the entire computer lab and redirect incoming users to less-occupied computer rooms.
-
Better resource planning
Usage statistics help reveal shortages of certain types of equipment and estimate the precise quantities, which must be purchased. Cost of maintenance and downtime data help avoid buying from vendors with high maintenance costs and low availability of equipment.
-
Lower software expenses through software metering
VeraLab Concurrent License Manager guarantees that a limited number of users can use certain software simul- taneously. Thus, you can buy fewer licenses and still install software on every workstation in your computer lab.
-
Higher degree of control
Managers can view the current status of the lab and evaluate the performance of personnel from anywhere via the Internet. Stricter employee attendance is encouraged by requiring employees to sign in when starting and ending their shifts.
-
Streamlined business processes
Lab assistants don't need to communicate with technicians in person; computer lab managers are not required to be on site at all times to supervise employees.
-
Better reporting capabilities
Attendance information can be collected and presented to the HR department for payroll processing. Analytical data can be pulled into reports in tabular and graphical forms and/or presented in a meeting.
-
Better lab scheduling
If there is a need to limit the computer lab's open hours with minimum impact on user satisfaction, the system will pinpoint lower traffic periods.
-
Immunity from accusations of negligence
In case of hacker activity originating from your computer lab the system provides all necessary means to identify abusers, communicate their identity to law enforcement, and prevent abusers from accessing computer lab in the future.
